A woman gave birth on the ground at a 50 Cent concert in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday night, according to a report.
Medics on duty at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater went to assist the unnamed person when they say she “appeared to be in distress,” as Page Six reports. She went into labor while attending the concert,
“The baby girl was born on site, and the mother and child were then transported to the hospital,” a source told Page Six. “As of last report, all are well.”
50 Cent paused his performance to acknowledge the woman and her new son. He also offered to pay for their hospital bills.
“I want to congratulate the new mother,” 50 Cent said from the stage. “I’m going to pay for her hospital bills. I’m going to make sure she’s taken care of.”
The woman’s story quickly went viral on social media, with many people praising her for her bravery and resilience.
“This woman is a rockstar,” one Twitter user wrote. “Giving birth at a 50 Cent concert is the most badass thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I’m so happy for the new mom and her baby,” another Twitter user wrote. “It’s so heartwarming to see 50 Cent step up and offer to help them out.”
Concert attendees going into labor at shows is nothing new. In August, an Albany resident named Angela Meyer had the same thing happen to her while she was at a Pink concert at Fenway Park in Boston, as The Daily Wire reported.
“At only 31 weeks pregnant, Angela hadn’t been expecting her son’s arrival quite yet, but she started having contractions shortly after arriving for the show. She called her doctor, who advised her to get to a hospital,” a statement from Brigham & Women’s Hospital said in part.
“With all the traffic surrounding Fenway for the concert, Angela had trouble finding a ride to the hospital. She and her family decided the fastest way to get to Brigham and Women’s was to walk – and so, decked out in their concert outfits, they made the trek to our hospital where Angela later delivered her son in the Brigham’s NICU.”
