Will Smith Said He Wants to Repair Relationship with Chris Rock, But…

Will Smith says that he wants to repair his relationship with Chris Rock. It is now one year since the infamous “slap” at the 94th Academy Awards where Smith struck Rock onstage.

Rock talked about the assault in his live Netflix comedy special “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” on Saturday. He said loud and clear that he is “not a victim.”

One source has reported that Smith, 54, has “felt terrible for so long” about slapping Rock at the Oscars. “He’s tried unsuccessfully to make amends in the best way he could with Chris. But beyond that, family is important to him and [Smith] leaned on them. It all has helped him look inside and mature. He is better but still remorseful,” the source added.

They also said that Will has listened to those who tried to help him and feels like he has become a better person.

The end of Rock’s show on Saturday was dedicated to the Will Smith encounter, and the title was a reference to him.

The intense things Rock used as jokes will likely increase the rift between these two. The comedian didn’t hold back when talking about Smith’s marriage to Jada Pickett.

“Will Smith practices selective outrage,” Rock said. “Everybody that really knows knows I had nothing to do with that s—. I didn’t have any ‘entanglements.’”

Rock was aiming at the July 2020 story where Jada opened up about having an “entanglement” with singer August Alsina years ago while she and Will were on a break.

She talked about how she and Will dealt with it and came to a new place of unconditional love.

Rock said in his live show that “everybody in the world” called Will a “bitch” after the “entanglement” news. He said he tried to connect with Smith, but he didn’t pick up.
