Watch – Carol Burnett was Trending This Week and Fans Panicked…Wait Until You See the Reason

Legendary comedian Carol Burnett was trending on social media on Monday of this week. She was being mentioned so often that fans thought the worst…that the 89-year-old icon had died.
What really happened was that her name was mentioned so many times on Twitter as a response to a tweet from “Saturday Night Live.” They posted a tweet asking fans who they wanted to host in the upcoming season.

She is very much alive, so fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
One user tweeted, “Carol Burnett was trending and y’all scared the hell outta me. They just want her to host SNL. How in the world has this comedic genius not been given this platform.”
Another wrote, “I saw Carol Burnett trending and almost had a heart attack. Fortunately, it’s just because people want her to host SNL, which, I mean: HELL YEAH.”
And another, “Seeing Carol Burnett trending and it’s because people want her to host SNL. Shew. Was going to have a bit of a sad moment there.”
From 1967 to 1978, Carol hosted “The Carol Burnett Show,” which was groundbreaking for women in comedy. Burnett has six Emmys, seven Golden Globe awards, a Tony, a Grammy, and even a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
How can it be that she has never been asked to host SNL?
That was a question Larry King asked Burnett in a 2016 interview on his show.
“You’re kidding. They’ve never had Carol?” a stunned King asked a serious Burnett.
“Would you host it? You should host it,” he continued.
“If I was asked,” she smiled.

One fan noted that if this really happens after all the public outcry, she would be the oldest person to ever host SNL, beating out another icon, Betty White.
You can imagine just how many devoted fans are on this bandwagon now. One person asked NBC to “end this madness now!”
The New York Post contacted Burnett and SNL for a comment, but there is no response yet.
