Shakira Lets It Rip in ‘Mortifying’ Song for Ex – Watch

Revenge is sweet, and for a global pop star, it’s best in the lyrics of your latest hit.

Shakira is not holding anything back against her ex-boyfriend, Gerard Piqué. The Columbian singer teamed up with DJ Bizarrap to call him out after their breakup.

Shakira sings the Spanish song about being too good for the person she used to be with, she also calls out his new girlfriend and declares how better she is without him.

“A wolf like me isn’t for guys like you/For guys like you/I’m too good for you and that’s why you’re with someone just like you,” she sings.

Later in the song, Shakira adds, “You left me with my mother-in-law as my neighbor, the media at my door and in debt with the treasury.”

The singer is facing tax fraud charges in Spain where she lived with the Spanish soccer player and their sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.

A statement was released about their separation, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

While doing an interview with Elle, Shakira said that it was hard to talk about the breakup. She said that she had remained quiet and was trying to process it all.

“I have paparazzi camping outside, in front of my house, 24/7. And there’s not a place where I can hide from them with my kids, except for my own house,” she said.

But she is no longer quiet about the relationship, she has decided to sing about it in the song, “Monotonía.”

One of the lines sums up the purpose of the song, “This is to mortify you.”

No doubt he is getting the message now.
