Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, Talks ‘Crazy’ on New Podcast – Listen

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, spoke recently on her Archetypes podcast and lashed out at two American sitcoms, “How I Met Your Mother” and “Scrubs” for the way they labeled “crazy” to diminish women’s credibility.

She criticized Hollywood for the way it stereotypes “crazy, hot” females. And she talked about how she has been called “crazy” and “hysterical.”

Markle then revealed that when she hit her “worst point,” Prince Harry found a therapist for her. She said that this process showed her how important it was to “be really honest about what it is that you need and to not be afraid to make peace with that to ask for it.”

The podcast, which was nearly an hour long, is titled: “Raise your hand if you’ve ever been called crazy or hysterical, or what about nuts? Insane out of your mind, completely irrational, okay? You get the point.”

The duchess explained, “Now, if we were all in the same room and could see each other, I think it would be pretty easy to see. Just how many of us have our hands up? By the way, me too. And it’s no wonder when you consider just how prevalent these labels are in our culture.”

Meghan played a clip from “How I Met Your Mother” in which the character Barney, played by Neil Patrick Harris, said: “If she’s this crazy, she has to be this hot.”

This is followed by Jordan Peterson, who said: “I don’t think that men can control crazy women.”

After another clip from “Scrubs” was played, Meghan said: “Calling someone crazy or hysterical completely dismisses their experience and minimizes what they’re feeling.

‘It keeps going to the point where anyone who’s been labeled it enough times can be gaslit into thinking that they’re actually unwell or sometimes worse, to the point where real issues of all kinds get ignored. Well that’s not happening today.”
