Maya Rudolph Has Big News (It Has to Do with M&Ms) – Watch

Who knew that M&M’s could be so polarizing? The iconic candy made some changes last year and unveiled a new look for its wildly popular spokescandies.

They gave their red, green, brown, orange, blue and yellow candy characters a “fresh, modern take.” For instance, the Green M&M traded her go-go boots for “cool, laid-back sneakers to reflect her effortless confidence.”

The company had no idea that the move would hit the internet and that people would have such intense convictions about how these spokescandies looked.

And then the chatter started about adding in the new purple M&M, things got even more intense.

The company never wanted to divide people, they are all about bringing people together.

In light of this value, M&M has decided to “take an indefinite pause from the spokescandies.” And in their place, they have tagged a new spokesperson they believe all of America can agree on…Welcome, Maya Rudolph, the new M&M spokesperson.

The comedy legend will appear in the candy’s Super Bowl advertisement during the big game on February 12.

“I’m thrilled to be working with M&M’s,” Rudolph told the press. “I am a lifelong lover of the candy and I feel like it’s such an honor to be asked to be part of such a legendary brand’s campaign.”

She said that there would be lots of “fun” moments in the new commercial.

“It’s a very fun pairing, if I do say so myself,” she says of her partnership with M&M’s. “I think little Maya would be thrilled to get to work with M&M’s.” She also said that she brings a “lifelong lover of candy” to the new job.

Rudolph’s new title will be “the Chief of Fun” at M&Ms. She will be helping the brand along with Mars, the candy’s manufacturer, “create a world where everyone feels they belong,” an M&M’s spokesperson told the press.
