Matt Damon has opened up about a kissing scene with Scarlett Johansson in the 2011 film We Bought a Zoo. In an interview with LADbible, Damon said that the kiss was “hell” because Johansson had just eaten an onion sandwich.
“I had to kiss Scarlett Johansson — can you imagine how horrible that was for me?” Damon said. “It was hell!”
Damon explained that he and Johansson had filmed a scene before lunch, and Johansson had eaten an onion sandwich during her break. When they came back to film the kiss, Johansson told Damon that she had just eaten the sandwich.
“She goes, ‘Oh shit! I literally just had an onion sandwich!'” Damon recalled. “I was making fun of her the entire time about her onion breath, which I didn’t even smell.”
Damon said that he was able to get through the kiss by making jokes with Johansson, but he said that it was still “one of the worst kissing experiences of my life.”
“It was just a bad situation,” Damon said. “But it was funny in the end.”
Damon’s comments have sparked a debate on social media, with some people saying that he was being too harsh on Johansson, while others said that he was simply being honest.

In the same interview, Damon mocked Emily Blunt when it came to the question about whether or not British food was better than American food.
While the “Mary Poppins Returns” star strongly agreed, Damon replied no and told the actress “Do you know you [British] are known for having horrible food?”
Blunt then took a dig at classic American food like “cheeseburgers and nuggets.” Damon reminded her that in America we are a melting pot and get all the best food the world has to offer right here, not just “fried” food.
