John Cena Shares Rare Insight Into His Marriage to Shay Shariatzadeh

John Cena is known for his larger-than-life persona in the ring, but when it comes to his marriage to Shay Shariatzadeh, he prefers to keep things more low-key.

“Some things are worth keeping to yourself,” he told Hoda Kotb when he stopped by TODAY on May 15.

Cena spoke more about keeping his relationship private.

“We have core values which we both believe in, and one of those is keeping our information to us and those extremely close to our inner circle,” he said.

“I couldn’t be happier, but I think a way for us to keep our intimacy is by keeping it intimate,” he added.

However, in a rare interview, the actor and WWE star opened up about his relationship with his wife, sharing some heartwarming insights into their marriage.

“I’m very grateful to have found someone who is as supportive and understanding as Shay,” Cena said. “She’s my best friend, and I can’t imagine my life without her.”

Cena and Shariatzadeh met on the set of the 2019 film “Playing with Fire,” and they quickly fell in love. They were married in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida, in October 2020.

The couple has been very private about their relationship, but Cena has occasionally shared some details about their life together. In a recent interview, he said that he and Shariatzadeh are very much in love, and that they are committed to making their marriage work.

“We’re both very passionate about our relationship, and we’re always working to make it better,” Cena said. “We’re not perfect, but we’re always trying to be the best versions of ourselves for each other.”

The WWE icon and his wife may be enjoying marital bliss, but expanding their family does not appear to be in their plans in the near future. In an interview with Drew Barrymore, Cena he talked about parenthood, “I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that. You have to have passion for it. You have to have a fuel for it. It’s like saying to somebody, ‘Man, you know, you’re pretty good with your hands. You’d be a great carpenter.’”
