Can You Believe the Banter Between Romney and Santos? – Watch

Some of the most heated banter at the State of the Union wasn’t between Biden and some GOP leaders, it was between Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Rep. George Santos (R-NY).

Romney, the failed 2012 presidential candidate, told Santos, the newly elected representative embroiled in scandal, “You don’t belong here.”

The conversation, which was witnessed by several lawmakers, took place in the House chamber before Biden gave his speech. After the address, Romney doubled down on his remarks when he told a reporter:

“He shouldn’t be in Congress. And they’re gonna go through the process and hopefully get him out. But he shouldn’t be there and if he had any shame at all, he wouldn’t be there.”

The video of Romney making this claim was posted by NBC News.

Romney also added, “I didn’t expect that he’d be standing there trying to shake hands with every Senator and the president of the United States. Given the fact that he’s under an Ethics investigation, he should be sitting in the back row and remaining quiet instead of parading in front of the president and people coming into the room.”

Romney went even further talking about the fact that he lied about grades and graduated from college when he did not even attend one.

Romney flat out said again that he should not be in Congress and they will go through the process to get him out.

Santos responded to Romney via Twitter writing, “just a reminder that you will NEVER be PRESIDENT!”

Santos, who represents Long Island, is facing multiple investigations by prosecutors who are looking into his personal and campaign finances as well as lies that he told and admitted to.

He has faced heated scrutiny from his fellow lawmakers and there have been other calls for him to resign.
