Hearing a rustle under your house typically conjures images of a raccoon, but for one family, the noises weren’t coming from a raccoon at all.
A couple in Idaho had a close encounter with a bear after they went to investigate noises coming from under their house.
The couple, who have not been identified, were outside their home in the city of Post Falls on Monday when they heard noises coming from the crawl space. The man went to investigate, and he was shocked to find a bear sleeping inside.
The man quickly ran back inside and told his wife, who called 911. Animal control officers responded to the scene and were able to safely remove the bear from the crawl space.
The bear was not injured, and it was released back into the wild.
The couple was shaken up by the experience, but they are grateful that no one was hurt. They said that they will be more careful in the future about investigating noises coming from under their house.
This is not the first time that a bear has been found in a crawl space. In 2021, a bear was found in the crawl space of a home in the city of Boise. The bear was also safely removed and released back into the wild.
