It’s a big deal for such a little fellow! Anyone would be honored to be asked to sing the National Anthem and they probably would be pretty nervous.
Drake Grillo recently had that honor at the Carrier Dome and he sang the anthem just like a pro. What makes this story really interesting is this…Drake Grillo is three years old!
What a stunning example of teaching our children to show love and respect for our country at such an early age. Grillo’s mother helped her young boy learn the difficult song and now she has a bonafide star in the making. He’s also likely to grow up as a true patriot in our nation.
Grillo is now the youngest person ever to sing the National Anthem in the Carrier Dome’s history. That’s probably a record at most other stadiums as well.
The star singer did not even seem to notice how many eyes were looking down on him in awe. He sand his little heart out with a big voice, and the people responded accordingly with a huge standing ovation.
But that was just the beginning. The video of the anthem has been seen more than half a million times already.
“I just think he’s too little to realize how big of a deal it is,”
said Drake’s mother, Chelsea. She stood by her son’s side as he sang America’s Anthem.
“We just try to stay calm for him and not really talk it up. We don’t ask him if he’s nervous. So then maybe he won’t think of that. I don’t he really knows what nervous is yet.”
This wasn’t the first time that young Drake sang the National Anthem. In July, he performed at a minor league baseball game in New York. And this certainly won’t be his last time being asked to bless a crowd with his patriotic singing.
