McDonald’s is celebrating the birthday of its iconic purple character Grimace with a new limited-edition shake. The Grimace Birthday Shake is made with vanilla soft serve and berry flavors, and it’s topped with whipped cream and a Grimace-shaped gummy candy.
“Whether you’ve attended an epic party at the PlayPlace or swapped the fancy dinner for what you were really craving (hello, McNuggets), we know birthdays with McDonald’s hold a special place in our fans’ hearts,” reads a press release from McDonald’s.
“Now, we’re inviting everyone to create new birthday memories with us,” it continues. “This time, in honor of their fuzzy purple bestie. Get your party hat ready, ‘cause we’re celebrating Grimace’s birthday.”
The shake is available for purchase at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide from June 6 to June 26. It costs $3.99 for a small, $4.99 for a medium, and $5.99 for a large.
Grimace is a popular character in the McDonaldland advertising campaign. He is a purple, gelatinous creature with a large appetite. He is known for his love of milkshakes, and he is often seen stealing them from other characters.
The Grimace Birthday Shake is the first time that McDonald’s has released a shake specifically in his honor. The company has previously released other limited-edition shakes, such as the Shamrock Shake and the Pumpkin Spice Shake.
In addition to the shake, McDonald’s is also releasing a new Happy Meal toy featuring Grimace. The toy is a Grimace-shaped slime ball that can be squeezed and stretched.
