Sean “Diddy” Combs is now facing a staggering wave of new allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, with claims that span over two decades. In a press conference held on Tuesday, Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee announced that he is representing 120 accusers who are bringing forward accusations against the music mogul, adding to the growing legal troubles surrounding Combs.
Buzbee, known for his involvement in high-profile cases, detailed the gravity of the accusations, which include violent sexual assaults, drug-facilitated abuse, and the exploitation of minors. According to Buzbee, the allegations also encompass the dissemination of explicit video recordings without consent.
He made it clear that these are not isolated incidents, but part of a larger pattern of behavior, involving “many powerful people” and “many dirty secrets,” some of which, he suggested, would be shocking once fully revealed. His legal team has gathered substantial evidence, including photos, videos, and text messages, as they prepare for what promises to be a far-reaching legal battle.
The magnitude of the claims is unprecedented. Buzbee revealed that more than 3,000 individuals have approached his office with allegations against Combs, and lawsuits are expected to be filed in multiple states within the next 30 days.
Many of the accusers hail from key states like New York, California, Georgia, and Florida, with 62% identifying as African American. Disturbingly, 25 of these accusers were minors at the time of the alleged incidents, with some claims dating back to as early as 1991. Buzbee emphasized that among these cases is an alleged incident involving a 9-year-old child.
Combs’ legal team, led by Erica Wolff, has categorically denied all allegations, calling them false and defamatory. Wolff stated that Combs “emphatically denies” any claims of sexual abuse, including those involving minors, and is prepared to fight the accusations in court.
Combs, who is currently being detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, has already been indicted on serious charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution-related offenses. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his legal team is currently appealing the decision to deny him bail.
The legal firestorm surrounding Combs is only growing more intense, following a series of lawsuits filed against him in recent years. This includes an explosive civil suit filed last year by his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who accused him of years of assault and sex trafficking.
Although that lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed amount, it sparked a domino effect of legal challenges. Most recently, video footage surfaced showing Combs violently attacking Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel, which further tarnished his public image. Additionally, former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard has accused Combs of groping, assaulting, and threatening her, adding to the pile of lawsuits.
Buzbee’s representation of such a large number of accusers adds a significant weight to the case. With his history of handling high-profile lawsuits, including representing victims in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill case and in the Deshaun Watson sexual misconduct scandal, Buzbee is no stranger to large, complex cases involving powerful figures. His pursuit of justice for the victims of the Astroworld tragedy, where he filed a $750 million lawsuit against Travis Scott, has made him a prominent figure in advocacy for victims of large-scale incidents.
The allegations against Combs are particularly notable in light of New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law, which allows for lawsuits to be filed regardless of how long ago the alleged abuse occurred. This law has opened the door for many of these claims to move forward, even as they date back decades.
