It was supposed to be a celebration — a grand opening weekend for the new Bass Pro Shop in Odessa, Texas — but what unfolded was more reminiscent of a Wild West saloon dust-up than a ribbon-cutting retail event.
What started as a simple disagreement in the restroom line spiraled into a chaotic, multi-man melee that shook the aisles of one of America’s most iconic outdoor retailers.
According to reports, the brawl erupted around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, when two men waiting in line for the bathroom reportedly exchanged words over someone taking too long inside.
That verbal spat quickly escalated into physical blows, and before long, multiple customers were throwing punches in front of a stunned crowd. In the viral footage now circulating on X (formerly Twitter), two pairs of men can be seen grappling on the floor while bystanders look on, some filming, others frozen in disbelief.

One man, dressed in a Texas Longhorns jersey, leapt into the fray with the fervor of a linebacker, landing punches and shoving another participant to the ground. For a moment, the store — known for its tranquil displays of nature and wide-open retail spaces — turned into a battleground. Employees and fellow customers rushed in to separate the fighters, finally bringing the scuffle to an end.
But not before one woman, clearly shaken and outraged, summed up the sentiments of many onlookers: “Grown-ass men acting like idiots!” she screamed. “And you wonder why our schools are falling apart! It’s their fault! Look at the example that you’re setting!”
Investigators later revealed that the fight stemmed from a man, accompanied by his wife and child, who became upset with someone taking too long in the bathroom. Once the person exited, words were exchanged, and the argument moved outside — only to return inside, where it detonated into full-blown combat.
The Odessa Police Department confirmed that no charges were filed, though those who initiated the fight were banned from the store and issued criminal trespass warnings. Minor injuries were reported, but none required hospitalization.
