Musk Makes It in the Guinness Book of World Records…It’s Not Good

This is not the kind of recognition that anybody wants, and few of us could ever even reach this kind of milestone.

Elon Musk can add a new title to his list of accomplishments on his resume: He is now a Guinness World Record holder.

The tech giant CEO, Tesla guru, and space ship maverick are now in the record books regarding his finances. But unfortunately, the record he now holds is thanks to the shocking loss of money in 2022.

Musk saw his fortune dwindle by $182 billion, the Guinness World Record organization announced on Friday in a release that used information for Forbes.

Guinness said that the exact figure of Musk’s loss is just about impossible to “ascertain.” Some news outlets estimate he lost more than $200 billion.

The truth is that Musk demolished the previous record holder who lost a meager $58.6 billion in a year. He was a Japanese investor named Masayoshi Son and his loss happened in 2000.

Musk lost his billions mostly because of the steep slide in Tesla shares, they lost about 65% of their value during the company’s worst year on record. The loss knocked Musk off of the pedestal as the richest man in the world. Now Bernard Arnault, a luxury goods magnate, holds the title.

Musk is not the only billionaire who suffered a major loss in 2022. American billionaires together lost $660 billion last year.

Musk, who’s 53 years old, kept Amazon founder Jeff Bezos from taking the Guinness World Record. Bezos’s lost $80 in 2022, and he came in second place to Musk. And fellow tech wizard Mark Zuckerberg also broke Masayoshi Son’s record with his $78 billion loss.

At one time, Musk garnered as much as $320 billion in late 2021, but now his fortune rests at about $142 billion.

I wonder how he is going to make it?
