In the heart of one of Florida’s most affluent and picturesque communities, a devastating tragedy has shaken a family—and now, a husband stands accused of causing the very loss that has left him grieving.
Angelo Theodosiou, 64, has been charged in connection with the accident that killed his wife, Christina Theodosiou, 58, after she was thrown from a golf cart he was driving through their upscale Nocatee neighborhood.
The accident occurred just before 11 p.m. on November 30 in Nocatee, a meticulously manicured master-planned community near Jacksonville known for its multimillion-dollar homes, elite school zoning, and relaxed lifestyle where residents often use golf carts to get around. But what should have been an ordinary evening turned into a life-altering moment.
Christina sustained critical injuries after reportedly hitting her head during the fall. She was airlifted to Jacksonville Memorial Trauma Hospital and tragically passed away the following day.
Now, Angelo Theodosiou faces DUI-related charges after deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office cited signs of impairment at the scene. According to arrest records, officers observed bloodshot, watery eyes, and the distinct odor of alcohol emanating from the 64-year-old even from several feet away.
Though he initially agreed to perform a field sobriety test, he later refused both the test and a subsequent breath sample after being taken into custody.
Still, Theodosiou’s defense is pushing back. His attorney, L. Lee Lockett, has firmly denied that his client was impaired, stating, “He didn’t cause the accident.” Lockett added that Angelo is deeply grief-stricken and overwhelmed with sorrow, describing him as “heartbroken,” “distraught,” and “depressed as can be.”
Theodosiou has since bonded out and is due in court on January 6, 2026.
The community, stunned by the incident, has rallied in mourning. Friends described the couple as loving, devoted, and enjoying the retirement they had long worked for. Originally from New York, the Theodosiou family moved to Florida seeking a peaceful life after years in the restaurant business in Jackson Heights. That dream has now been shattered.
