Justin Theroux has been open about his relationship with Jennifer Aniston, but he’s always been careful not to say too much. In a recent interview with Esquire, Theroux explained why he doesn’t talk publicly about his ex-wife.
“There’s something to, once you’re out of that, where I want all of my relationships to exist within the four walls of whatever room we’re in,” Theroux said. “And I’m not trying to be evasive, but I talk to Jen — I don’t talk about Jen.”
Theroux went on to say that he doesn’t want to put Aniston in a position where she has to answer questions about their relationship. “I don’t want to be that guy,” he said. “I don’t want to be the guy that talks about his ex-wife.”
Theroux and Aniston were married for two years before they announced their split in 2018. Theroux has said that he and Aniston are still friends, and they’ve been spotted together on several occasions since their split.
Theroux’s decision not to talk publicly about Aniston is understandable. He wants to protect her privacy, and he doesn’t want to put her in a position where she has to answer questions about their relationship. It’s also clear that Theroux still cares about Aniston, and he doesn’t want to do anything that could hurt her.
He also had this to say about social media: “The Internet is like this really big high school, and why on earth would you walk around it checking every room and broom closet for the bully to kick your a–?” Theroux replied.
He added, “I don’t linger.”
Theroux’s decision is a refreshing change of pace from the way that many celebrities talk about their exes. In an age of social media and reality TV, it’s easy for celebrities to exploit their personal lives for attention. But Theroux is choosing to take a different approach. He’s putting Aniston’s privacy first, and he’s showing that he’s still a gentleman, even after a breakup.
