Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently revealed a not-so-wholesome part of his life when he was a young teenager. In an Instagram post, the wrestling and film icon confessed that he didn’t always keep the law when it came to Snickers Bars and shoplifting.
He said he could have been a living tagline for the popular Snickers ad campaign about the desperate things we do when our stomachs are hungry and growling.
The Rock wrote, “I finally exorcised this damn chocolate demon that’s been gnawing at me for decades.”
He went further, “I was broke as hell, so I used to steal a king sized @snickers EVERY DAY from 7-11 for almost a year when I was 14yrs old, on my way to the gym.”
He continued, “The same clerk was there every day and always just turned her head and never busted me.”
He explained that every time he went back to Hawaii and drove by the 7-11, he knew that he had to go in there and make things right.
Johnson said, “We can’t change the past and some of the dumb stuff we may have done, but every once in a while we can add a little redeeming grace note to that situation — and maybe put a big smile on some stranger’s faces.”
The post showed a video of The Rock going into the store and purchasing every last Snickers bar on the shelves. He then gave them away to the excited customers.
He also bought each customer’s items and then gave big tips to each cashier.
Johnson has been open about his family’s struggles to make ends meet during his teen years. He watched his parents depend on the kindness of others so that there was food on their table.
“My mom pointed out earlier in the day there was a time back in ‘87 when we couldn’t even afford Thanksgiving dinner and was praying someone would invite us over (to) their house to eat. We were in a tough spot back then, but we got (through) it,” Johnson wrote.
Johnson’s actions did not go unnoticed by 7-Eleven, who responded to the actor’s exposure of how he worked out.
“Well, now that I know ur pre workout secret, I’m bout to be ????????,” the chain replied in the post’s comments section.
