Don’t You Miss Steve Irwin? Take a Look at This Clip of a Python Surprise!

Surely I’m not the only one who misses the presence of Steve Irwin today. If you were conscious in the 90s or even the early 2000s, you probably saw Irwin filling the TV screen with the most amazing animals. You probably can still remember his Australian accent and his joy-filled love for all animals.
If you don’t remember Steve, maybe you know one of his children, Bindi and Robert. They have courageously carried on their father’s legacy and helped to educate the worldwide public about caring for animals.
On 4 September 2006, Steve Irwin died after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming on the Great Barrier Reef. The stinger penetrated his thoracic wall and caused massive trauma leading to his death.
One of Irwin’s most memorable moments came in 1991 while doing a weekly segment of his TV show. He had a snake wrapped around his neck like a necklace, and the snake must have been tired of showbiz.
The snake clamped down on Irwin and the showman who was usually full of life remained calm.
The irony is that Irwin had just told the host of the show that the snake would not bite because the python wasn’t feeling threatened. Just as the words were leaving Irwin’s mouth, the snake began to chomp.
You can see the realization that Irwin had been bitten on his face just before he tells the crew in a calm tone, “You might have to cut it. He’s biting my neck.” He emphasizes, “I’m serious,” before instructing the cameraman to zoom in closer so he can get a better look to try to get the snake to release him.
The snake was obviously nonvenomous and quickly let go of Irwin’s neck.
