Well, well, well—looks like the gravy train for the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) industry just hit a brick wall, and its name is Donald Trump. The Department of Education (DOE) just slashed $101 million in DEI training grants and is cutting nearly $1 billion in bloated contracts, all thanks to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the federal agency Trump put in Elon Musk’s hands to clean house.
And folks, Musk is delivering.
Let’s start with the 29 DEI training grants that got the axe. One of them aimed to “help students understand/interrogate the complex histories involved in oppression” and “recognize areas of privilege and power on an individual and collective basis.” Translation? More taxpayer-funded indoctrination designed to divide Americans into oppressors and oppressed—instead of, you know, actually educating them.
Then there’s the 89 contracts totaling $881 million that are now gone. One of those contracts? A $1.5 million deal to literally observe a mailroom’s clerical operations. That’s right—your hard-earned tax dollars were being used to watch people sort mail.

Musk wasted no time calling out the absurdity. “Your tax dollars were spent on this,” he posted on X.
And he’s not the only one celebrating. Nicki Neily, president of Parents Defending Education, nailed it: “DEI was never about ‘equity’—it was about enforcing ideological conformity and institutionalizing discrimination.” Meanwhile, the House Committee on Education and Workforce put it bluntly: “We should be teaching students to think critically, not brainwashing them.”
Erika Donalds, a longtime education advocate and wife of Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), had perhaps the most cutting response:
“The kids can’t read.”
And that’s the problem. While public schools are failing at their basic job—teaching kids to read, write, and think—bureaucrats have been shoveling millions into DEI initiatives that do nothing but push ideological nonsense.

This is exactly why Trump wasted no time dismantling the DEI machine. On his first day back in office, he signed an executive order ending DEI programs in the federal workforce, declaring:
“The public release of these plans demonstrated immense public waste and shameful discrimination. That ends today.”
Boom.
And just three days into his second term, the DOE made it official: DEI is done.
Now, is the left losing its mind over this? Of course. They spent years embedding this ideology deep into every level of government, education, and corporate America, and now it’s all being ripped out at the roots.
