Cher Shares Her Grief After Losing Her 96 Year Old Mother – Watch

The iconic singer and actress, Cher, recently shared her grief over her mother’s death. She reflected on her final moments with her mom, Georgia Holt, before she died at the age of 96. 

Tweeting late into the night, Cher shared with her fans that she was having trouble sleeping. 

“Can’t sleep very well,” she wrote, before adding, “Look for Cher & mom sing ‘I’m just your yesterday.’ You’ll see where I stole my voice.”

More tweets came later where the legendary singer wrote that her mother had been sick and was fighting before she took a major turn for the worse. 

Cher wrote, “The truth…. She’s been sick, & rallying, she then got bad,” Cher wrote. “She was in so much pain. Finally she coded on way to Hosp. By time we Got to Hosp….The Woman who Who Was MY KICK ASS MOM was No long Here.”

One of her fans sent condolences and Cher responded by saying that she was “not sad.”

“We set her free. She is no longer crying out in Pain 24/7. She is her happy, funny, insane, beautiful Self.”

The cause of death is not evident at this time. The family has yet to share any additional details on Holt’s death. Representatives for the singer said there was “no information at this time.”

One day after announcing her mom’s death, Cher tweeted that Holt “would be so thrilled” that people all over the world were talking about her with love and admiration.

“Mom Would Be So Trilled That Ppl From All OverAre Talking About Her With& Admiration. Truth Is…I TOOK MOMS VOICE & HER DREAM & MADE THEM REAL.She Couldn’t Manifest Them, So I Did It 4 Her,& Made Her Happy. My SISTER GEE WAS THE BRILLIANT ONE,” Cher wrote. 

Cher’s mom was born Jackie Jean Crouch. She was a singer and an actor who had an appearance on “I Love Lucy,” as well as several small roles in movies. She recorded an album in the ’80s called “Honky Tonk Woman.” 

Cher and her mother worked together on a documentary “Dear Mom, Love Cher,” which was released in 2013.
