Can This Change the Way America Reads? – Watch

There is not much more important than learning to read and loving reading. It is a fundamental tool of learning and the reason that nation around the world set literacy goals.

The truth is that many people struggle with wanting to read because it is difficult for them. Maybe we take too long to read, or we have trouble keeping our minds on the page.

Maybe we get to the end of a paragraph and can’t even remember what we have read.

Some people are saying that there is now a font that can help you stay focused on what you have read. It can help you read faster, and better, and retain what you have read.

That is exactly what the creators of “Bionic Reading” are claiming with the font tool.

“Bionic Reading revises texts so that the most concise parts of words are highlighted,” the Swiss company’s website reads. “This guides the eye over the text and the brain remembers previously learned words more quickly.”

You can give it a try on the tweet posted below:

The gist of this new font is that our eyes don’t need to focus on the entire word because our brains will fill in the rest of it for us. If you put the first part of the word in bold letters, we can more quickly move from word to word.

“Bionic Reading aims to play a supporting role in the absorption of volume text,” states the website. “We see technological progress as an opportunity for all those who want to increase the pleasure of reading in a noisy and hectic world in a focused way and without distraction.”

There are no studies done on this method of reading, but there have been plenty of replies on social media. Some find it extremely helpful, while others, not so much.
