Actress Anne Heche Not Expected to Survive Fiery Crash

    Well-known actress Anne Heche suffered a serious brain injury after a fiery crash in her vehicle last week. According to her family, she is not expected to survive. 

    Heche was transported to a nearby hospital after she crashed her vehicle into a two-story home on August 5. She was driving a Mini Cooper and both the car and the house she drove into were engulfed with flames for over an hour, according to authorities. 

    “Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition,” the family said. “She is not expected to survive.”

    She is being kept on life support so that doctors can check which of her organs could be donated. That has been a wish for Heche for a long time. 

    “More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love,” the family said of Heche. “She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

    Representatives for the actress at first reported that he condition was stable. But on Monday, it was confirmed that the 53-year-old was in a coma.

    “At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition,” a rep for Heche said Monday. “She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.”

    “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident,” the rep added.

    It has been reported that Heche first crashed into a garage in an apartment complex, then she backed up, sped off, and eventually crashed into a Los Angeles home.

    Authorities confirmed on Thursday that narcotics were found in the actress’ system.
