This is not a story like the one with Julia Roberts as the “Runaway Bride.” This is a story of a woman who ran from the altar on her wedding day and is being hailed as a true hero.
This wedding day was going to be one of the most beautiful and most memorable days of her life. She was ready to stand at that altar and say “I do” to the love of her life and that love would last forever.
But the wedding day for bride Sarah Ray of Tennessee was not at all like she had dreamed as a young girl. It took a dramatic turn that no one saw coming, and the ceremony was delayed after she took a phone call and heard some news about her father and grandmother.
Sarah Ray’s loved ones were involved in an accident and she got the news just before walking down the aisle. Suddenly, the bride rushed out of the church leaving the guests in shock. Some believed she really was a “runaway bride,” and the ceremony would not proceed.
But that was not what happened.
Sarah works as a paramedic and she was sure that she could help her fellow first responders who were at the scene of the accident.
The groom was totally on board and instead of being mad, he was proud of his wife-to-be. He knew that Sarah had a heart of gold.
Once she made sure that her dad and grandmother were fine and had received proper medical help, she returned in her gown to the church and married the love of her life.
When she thinks about her wedding day, she says she would not hesitate even a minute if it meant saving a life, even though she was the bride. She said she would have done the same thing even if it wasn’t for her family.
