Lisa Loring, The Original ‘Wednesday Addams,’ Passed Away

Jenna Ortega is getting a lot of press regarding her portrayal of the popular Netflix show called “Wednesday.” The woman who played the original character of Wednesday in the 1960s TV series “The Addams Family,” Lisa Loring, recently died, according to a statement from her agent given to NBC News.

Loring was 64 years old and her agent, Chris Carbaugh, said in a statement, “Lisa was a very loving Mother, Grandmother and friend with a lifetime of amazing stories and experiences.”

“She brought to life one of the most iconic characters in Hollywood history that is still celebrated today. Lisa loved sharing her memories and meeting all her fans across the world. She will be missed dearly,” the statement said.

Wednesday Addams is a peculiar child and Loring played that role well in the TV show that ran from 1964 until 1966.

The case for such notoriety is proven by Netflix making her the central character in their newest series.

Jenna Ortega did a scene that went viral on social media platforms in that show. She performed a bizarre dance in one episode that people are recreating with their own posts.

But long before this new show because a hit, Loring’s character showed off her own moves in an episode in which Wednesday tries to teach Lurch how to make some dance moves.

Ortega gave a nod to Loring when she wrote about the dance craze, “Thanks to Siouxsie Sioux, Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug, Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich, Denis Lavant, and archival footage of goths dancing in clubs in the 80’s. Helped me out on this one.”

Lisa Loring appeared in “As the World Turns” in the 1980s. And she also had roles on shows such as “Fantasy Island,” “The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.” and “Barnaby Jones.”
