Keanu Reeves was willing to engage in an “ask me anything” conversation with fans on Reddit recently, and they got more than they probably bargained for.
The beloved actor admitted to actually taking the red pill! No really, he took the actual epic red pill from the set of “The Matrix.”
Reeves was a great interview for those fans, he was funny and vulnerable with them as he took questions about the many roles he has played in blockbuster movies.
He answered one question about what, if anything, he ever stole from a movie set that he worked on.
He said that he really didn’t take the red pill and hasn’t swiped anything from a set but he has been given plenty of prominent props over the years.
“Not stolen … the watch and wedding ring from John Wick, a sword from 47 Ronin, and the first red pill that the Wachowskis ever gave me,” Reeves said, according to People.
Reeves said that the extremely cool “Matrix” memento is a treasure of a keepsake, and the fans didn’t expect to hear about it.
The red pill came from the set of the world-famous 1999 movie and it represents one of the most famous scenes in the film.
Laurence Fishburne’s character Morpheus is in the scene and he presents Reeves’ character, Thomas Anderson (Neo), with a critical decision to make.
The red pill enables Neo to see the truth about his false reality, while the blue pill would give him the ability to return to his normal life and live in happy ignorance.
That scene has been used by political commentators to describe people who are “redpilled” as a right-wing equivalent of “woke.”
So Keanu Reeves chose the movie and now fans know that he has chosen real life as well.
