Judge Gives Decision In Pepper Spay Incident

A volatile outburst on a scenic Texas riverboat has landed 17-year-old Kasidy Luz Trevino in deeper legal waters — and this time, a judge made sure she understood just how serious things have become.

Already serving juvenile probation for an undisclosed offense, Trevino now faces fresh felony charges after allegedly pepper-spraying a family — including a child — during a nighttime ride along the San Antonio River Walk on November 15.

The confrontation, caught on video and widely shared across social media platforms like TikTok, showed a profanity-laced tirade and a shocking escalation that ended with eight people suffering the effects of chemical spray. Among them: a woman holding a toddler.

The catalyst? According to police, Trevino became enraged after passengers and the boat operator asked her to lower the volume on her phone’s music. When she refused, tensions flared.

After verbally threatening multiple passengers, Trevino allegedly pulled out a canister of pepper spray attached to her purse and used it indiscriminately. “She sprayed everyone,” one witness told police.

In a video that quickly went viral, Trevino is heard unleashing a stream of expletives, including racial slurs and threats of violence. “Stop recording me… I will slap your s**t,” she shouted, as a friend attempted in vain to calm her. After disembarking, she reportedly climbed a nearby bridge and sprayed the boat again as it passed beneath her.

The reaction from the bench was swift and stern. Judge William “Cruz” Shaw III — clearly exasperated — denied Trevino’s request for release. “You were on my probation,” he said, visibly irritated. “And you were on the riverwalk acting a fool.”

His frustration was more than justified. This wasn’t a misunderstanding or a momentary lapse. If the allegations prove true, this was a deliberate, aggressive act committed while under court supervision — and in full view of the public, no less. The fact that Trevino was identified thanks to her probation officer and a cascade of community tips only underscores how brazen the incident was.

Trevino now faces charges of assault causing bodily injury and injury to a child, elderly person, or disabled individual with intent — both serious offenses with long-term consequences if convicted. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 8.
