Jennifer Aniston Opens Up About Challenging IVF Journey

Jennifer Aniston has seen her share of pregnancy rumors and she has responded to them with grace for decades. But behind the scenes, the beloved star has endured what she called “a challenging road” with IVF. She recently opened up about the struggle for the first time.

Aniston, 53, showed great vulnerability in an interview with “Allure.” She revealed that she tried to start a family several years ago, but life took another direction.

“I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” she said in the latest issue of Allure.

Any couple that has undergone the journey with IVF fertility treatments can identify with Aniston. For her, there was the added pressure of knowing that the paparazzi were on the lookout for a potential baby bump.

“All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,” she said.

As she now looks back on the journey, Aniston said there was disappointed that it didn’t turn out the way she hoped.

In the interview, Aniston said that the pregnancy rumors themselves weren’t always what upset her the most. It was the suggestion that she was “selfish” for focusing on her career and not having kids that really got under her skin.

“(People thought) I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point,” she said.

“I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed,” she said.

She didn’t specify when exactly she went through IVF but said that enough time has now passed that she has peace.

“I have zero regrets,” she said. “I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about that anymore.”
