Is Ed Sheeran Going Country? Watch

Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but he’s not afraid to experiment with different genres. In a recent interview, the British singer-songwriter revealed that he’s considering a “transition into country” music.

“I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting,” Sheeran told Billboard. “It’s just like, brilliant songs.”

Sheeran has long been a fan of country music, and he’s even lived in Nashville for extended periods of time. He’s also collaborated with several country artists, including Taylor Swift and Keith Urban.

“I’d never really listened to country music as a kid growing up. It was only being on Taylor’s ‘Red’ tour and living in Nashville and her basically introducing me to that side of it,” he explained, adding that “there’s a radio station in England called (CountryLine Radio) that me and my wife have on all day, every day in the kitchen.”

“I’ve lived in Nashville all of 2013 and all of 2018,” Sheeran said. “It really left a lasting mark on me. I love country music, and I feel accepted here. It’s great.”

Sheeran’s interest in country music is not surprising. The genre is known for its strong songwriting and its down-to-earth appeal. Sheeran is a talented songwriter, and he has a knack for connecting with listeners on a personal level.

It’s unclear if Sheeran will make a full-fledged transition into country music, but it would be interesting to see what he could do with the genre. He has the talent and the following to make a big impact on country music.

Here are some other things to consider about Sheeran’s potential transition into country music:

  • Sheeran’s pop sound is already somewhat country-influenced. Many of his songs have a simple, acoustic feel that is reminiscent of country music.
  • Sheeran is already popular with country music fans. His collaboration with Taylor Swift, “Everything Has Changed,” was a huge hit with country radio listeners.
  • The country music industry is always looking for new talent. Sheeran is a big name with a large following, and he could help to bring new listeners to the genre.
