The NFL GOAT breaks his silence. Tom Brady has made an official announcement and he sounds like he means it this time.
After Brady’s Tampa Bay team got thoroughly beaten by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2022 NFL Playoffs, questions about his future started circulating.
Some had speculated that he might play out any remaining years he thought he had with the San Francisco 49ers or the Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams are desperate for a quarterback. And he certainly could have played for Tampa another year.
But there was a good bit of internal drama with the offensive staff. That led to the firing of coordinator Byron Leftwich in the offseason.
Some believe that Head Coach Todd Bowles should be fired as well. He took a great team and led to a lackluster 8 wins and 9 losses season. The Jets fans could have told you he would do that.
But it is Tom Brady that is leaving. He told his team at 6 am on Wednesday the news of his retirement at.
Brady, 45, is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame, even though he was the 199th pick in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL draft.
He has seven Super Bowl rings, five Super Bowl MVP awards, a 15x pro-bowler, a three-time league MVP, and 649 touchdown passes. And he surpassed 100,000 passing yards this season.
It’s hard to argue that he is the Greatest of All Time.
He already retired once and then promptly unretired last year. Some may be betting that he might do that again, but that is hard to imagine. He simply has nothing more to prove, and besides, it is pretty well known that he has a 10-year, $375 million Fox News broadcasting gig waiting for him.
Thanks for the memories, Tom.
Take a look at the response on social media:
Tom Brady informed Bucs today at 6 am he’d be retiring. One aspect I’d been mentioning for a bit now: Brady for months implied to many close to him that it was going to be either a return to Tampa or retirement. Tough for many to believe, including those close, but he meant it.
