It was the quiet part they weren’t supposed to say out loud. But now Chuck Todd has said it—and he said it on camera.
During a Wednesday appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the former NBC and Meet the Press anchor finally admitted what millions of Americans have known for years: the mainstream media didn’t tell the full truth about Joe Biden’s decline during the 2024 election—not because they didn’t see it, but because they were afraid it would help Donald Trump.
Let that sink in.
According to Todd, journalists avoided the glaringly obvious signs of President Biden’s cognitive slide—not because there was no story, not because it lacked public interest, but because they were worried it might “benefit Trump.” That’s not journalism. That’s political activism wrapped in press credentials.
Many of us spent time with @WSJ to share on the record our first-hand experiences with @POTUS, where we see his wisdom, experience, strength and strategic thinking.
Instead, the Journal ignored testimony by Democrats, focused on attacks by Republicans and printed a hit piece. https://t.co/aq5BWK8zhf

And Todd didn’t stop there. He said, “We were subtle… he’s using the back staircase, he’s not doing any interviews.” Subtle? When the Commander-in-Chief avoids the front steps or refuses unscripted media access, that’s not subtle. That’s a national concern, especially when voters are being asked to renew the man’s lease on the most powerful office in the world.
Even worse, Todd acknowledged that the media “held back” from drawing conclusions that viewers were plainly drawing themselves. Why? Because the truth was inconvenient for the narrative. It might make Trump look competent. It might validate conservative warnings. So they played down Biden’s condition while Democrats quietly panicked behind closed doors.
This revelation comes as two new books pull the curtain back even further. Chris Whipple’s Uncharted reveals Nancy Pelosi herself was stunned by Biden’s mental decline in May 2024, telling a friend he was “not the same Joe Biden.” But just a month later, she took to X to smear the Wall Street Journal as publishing a “hit piece” for reporting exactly what she privately knew to be true.
It wasn’t just neglect. It was deception.
And it extended beyond Biden. Todd also admitted the media’s support for deplatforming Trump after January 6th was another massive miscalculation—one that drove Americans out of legacy media and into independent platforms. While they were busy censoring, Trump built his own media ecosystem. Now, traditional outlets are showing up on YouTube, chasing the audience they drove away.
