Armed Man Arrested Outside RNC Convention

A tense incident unfolded on Monday near the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, where the Republican National Convention (RNC) is currently being held. A man armed with an AK-47 pistol and wearing a ski mask was arrested just blocks from the venue, raising significant security concerns.

Homeland Security Investigators and Capitol Police were conducting surveillance near the RNC perimeter when they noticed the suspicious individual.

According to Fox News, the man was carrying a tactical bag, which, upon inspection, was found to contain a gun and a fully loaded magazine. While the man’s intentions remain unclear, the situation has sparked heightened vigilance among law enforcement.

Milwaukee Police confirmed the arrest of the 21-year-old man around 1 p.m. on Monday at the 1200 block of N. 11th Street. Authorities also noted that the man did not possess a concealed weapon license, either in Wisconsin or any other state. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case, with charges pending.

Fox News reached out to several agencies for further information, including the Secret Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Department of Homeland Security, but has not yet received responses.

This alarming event is not the only security concern at the RNC this week. On Tuesday, another serious incident occurred when police shot and killed a man about two miles from the Fiserv Forum. A witness told Fox News that the man, who lived in a nearby homeless camp, was brandishing a knife when he was shot by police.

Additionally, Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis., reported being assaulted by a protester on Tuesday. Van Orden described the encounter as an “incident of political violence,” stating that a member of the activist group CODEPINK assaulted him while he was waiting in line to enter the venue.

CODEPINK, however, disputed this claim, asserting that the woman involved was bumped into by Van Orden as he tried to push past her.

These events have unfolded against the backdrop of the RNC’s theme for Tuesday, “Make America Safe Once Again,” with former President Donald Trump calling for a focus on addressing crime in Milwaukee.
